- Lack of Skills: May have poor study habits or motivation.
- Needs Support: Requires extra attention to catch up with peers, often labeled as a “slow learner”.
Financial Hardship (Low-Income Student):
- Financial Barriers: Lacks money for books, technology (computer), or even basic needs like food and housing, forcing them to work.
- Socioeconomic Disadvantage: Comes from a family with little income, facing systemic hurdles.
- “Doubly Disadvantaged”: Students from under-resourced schools in elite settings face both financial and cultural gaps.
- 13-Year Guaranteed Education: Programs like the 13YGEP aim to keep students in school longer by offering practical skills, reducing dropouts.
Challenges in the North & East
- Teacher Shortages: Skilled teachers are often reluctant to work in rural areas due to inadequate amenities.
- Economic Hardship: Poverty remains a significant barrier, making it hard for families to afford even incidental school costs.
